What Is Shockwave Therapy?
Shockwave therapy (Also known as extracorporeal shockwave therapy) uses high frequency acoustic waves, a non-invasive treatment that stimulates the body’s natural healing process. The shockwave treaments generates better blood flow in the targeted parts of the body. It can relieve pain and promote healing of injured tendons, ligaments, and other soft tissues. It accomplishes this by releasing growth factors in the injured tissue. This approach fills a need for injuries that are not responding to first line treatments, such as rest, ice, therapeutic exercise, bracing and orthotics, but who are not yet ready to consider more-invasive or surgical options.
