Acupuncture is premised on the belief that patterns of energy, called Qi, flow through pathways in the body known as meridians. When something blocks or disrupts the Qi’s flow, the body’s balance is disrupted, resulting in illnesses.
Acupuncture involves inserting needles in various points along the meridians to restore the flow of the Qi. Consequently, balance in the body is restored, allowing the body to repair itself. There are over 2,000 acupuncture points, each one relating to a body function or health problem, and 14 major meridians.
Western scientists explain the effectiveness of acupuncture through neuroscience concepts. Acupuncture points lie along places where nerves, muscles and tissues may be stimulated, improving blood flow and triggering the release of the body’s natural painkillers. Other studies have shown acupuncture to work on balancing the body’s electrical system and blood chemistry.

Our acupuncture program does not simply address physical complaints and symptoms; it really is healing the underlying causes of disease and health challenges in order to restore overall well-being.
Our acupuncturists are licensed professionals who have achieved much more than the requisite 4 years of formal education and clinical training for licensing. They are dedicated experts who have spent years growing their learning experiences about holistic health, and are the best examples of how holistic health practices can improve your life. We will request for your full health history, including information on your symptoms and lifestyle. A physical examination may also be performed, including an analysis of the tongue and pulse, and palpation of the abdomen and areas of discomfort.
Findings from your health history and from the physical examination will allow our acupuncturists to detect imbalances in your Qi that may have led to health problems. Based on this, our acupuncturists will develop a treatment plan specific to your condition, identifying the acupuncture points on your body that are essential to addressing your health concerns.
The entire process is safe and painless. Our acupuncturist will insert fine, sterile needles on the identified acupuncture points along your body to remove any obstruction to the flow of the Qi. By freeing the circulation of the Qi, acupuncture restores your body’s ability to heal itself, eliminating pain and discomfort.
The needed number of sessions depends on various factors, including the condition of your Qi, the acuteness of your health problem, and your body’s response to the treatments. The healing period varies by individual, and can be anywhere from days to months, sometimes even years. Some patients get immediate relief while others may need a longer time. Typically, it will take a month before you can see changes. Your acupuncturist will recommend the appropriate number of treatments, plus regular or seasonal check-ups.
